The Camaro disc brake proportioning valve controls the brake fluid pressure from the master cylinder to the front and rear brakes. The rear brakes do not require as much fluid pressure. Meanwhile up front, the disc brakes require most of the effort. The disc brake proportioning valve puts the correct amount of fluid pressure to the right place. Just imagine more brake fluid pressure going to the rear drum brakes while you are trying to haul your Camaro of Firebird down to legal speeds. The rear brakes could lock up and cause the car to switch ends on you. Not a good idea for a classic Camaro or Firebird.
