You need this because:
1. New wiper motors do not come with the drive arm.
2. New wiper transmissions do not come with the drive arm (if they do…9 out of 10 times it is the wrong one).
3. The wrong drive arm will cause your wipers to go into the park position 1/2 way up the windshield.
